This book is a prerequisite to any guide on building a tribe. If you try to build a tribe without first adopting the mindset of a barbarian that tribe will surely fall apart. Donovan contrasts the lifestyle of a barbarian with that of our modern, first world society. He calls the society in which we live today the empire of nothing.
Not only that but universal love is worthless. Since there is nowhere left on this planet to escape the reach of the Empire of Nothing, we must work towards becoming barbarians. That title alone may connect with you. The messages we receive in the world today tell us that we should love everyone.
We should care about all the human race. One people. One love. This is impossible.
We cannot love people around the world any more than we can meet people around the world. The effect of these messages, for those who adhere to them, is that in their attempt to love everyone they actually love no one. They connect with no one. Nor do they genuinely care about people around the world. The empire of nothing is essentially a money-making scheme. Global corporations want us to pretend to care about people in India because when we do they can more easily outsource jobs to India.
While the empire of nothing may profit people in third-world countries it does nothing for us in the first-world. It does nothing for your people, once you decide who your people are. Barbarians do not live in the empire of nothing. Barbarians very strictly distinguish who is in their group and who is not. Those in the group care for each other; they do not care for people outside of the group. A barbarian does not do that, because none of those people are his people unless one of these groups are his people, then it would be only that group.
If you give your resources to these strangers instead of the people of your group, you are not ready to be a barbarian. What is right is what betters your people, not what betters other people.
Why not feast them, for example? To care about everyone equally is inhuman, even sociopathic. Assuming you have a tribe or a barbarian group, the empire of nothing is not your people. Barbarian morality tells you that giving to the empire of nothing is immoral because it takes from your group and gives to another.
Likewise, it is moral to take from the empire and give to your group, so long as doing so does not bring trouble to the group. Along those lines, can you be mad at people who accept government funds and use them on their group? You may not like that they are doing it, but it is not immoral for them to find more ways to take from the empire of nothing to give to their group if that is what they are doing.
Being a lone wolf does not make one a great man, being a leader does. In order to be a leader, one needs men to lead, he needs a tribe. To belong to a tribe means to belong to something greater than yourself. Donovan then goes on to have the reader let go of the idea that we should be concerned about all of the human suffering in the world. There are over 7 billion people on this planet. We simply do not have the energy to care about the plight of every human being on the planet. Not only that but universal love is worthless.
To spread your love over billions of people dilutes and waters down the meaning of what love is. To only love those who you truly care about, your tribe, is to make that love more potent. The next important step is shifting our moral gears, as Donovan puts it.
We must reject the moral universalism and the slave morality of the Empire of Nothing. Donovan says we do not have to be apologetic for taking our own side. Let the cucks — the Universalist man — attempt to care and take responsibility for all of the people on this planet. He will flagellate himself into oblivion and ultimately he will fail.
There are few reasons, if any, to engage our ideological opponents and attempt to convince them of anything. Since we are becoming the barbarians within the Empire of Nothing, Donovan recommends that we do what barbarians are known for doing — looting and pillaging! We cannot go completely off the grid in the current environment, it is impossible.
Instead, use whatever resources the Empire makes available to us towards strengthening our tribe. You owe nothing to your government and you owe nothing to your corporate overlords. Use and abuse them for your benefit. When virility is reduced to nothing more than brute force, women do in fact appear to be spiritually superior by contrast. Then, woman, already by virtue of her greater openness to subtler forces, by virtue of the enigma of her charm, of the mystery of maternity and her gifts for maternal love and dedication, really can appear to be the incarnation of a higher principle, conferring upon her, in certain cases, concrete prestige and power, as well.
I am not sure how the author could have missed it, but the modern west seems to promote tribalism everywhere it can. It is considered racist and evil to recognize differing value according to a universal moral standard or the natural law. The current state of the world thrives on conflict, which it always promotes in one way or another, so to say that engineering even more conflict will somehow threaten the status quo is very naive.
You are right that the west atleast here in Sweden in a way are supporting tribalism, but they are only supporting tribalism for non-whites. The only tribalism they allow for whites are softcore fake tribalism based on things like fotboll, LARPING, non-nationalistic political parties and so on. Are enemies are tribal and so should we be, except for when we have a chance to strike at the enemy all at once, like on a pro-white demonstration, when voting for someone like Donald Trump and so on.
