Doraiswamy P. Cambridgeshire: IT Governance Publishing; Nowadays, knowledge management becomes a key challenge in modern organizations, especially project-based organizations. Consequently, PMOs need to build an effective knowledge management system that renders them more efficiency and effectively. This paper aims at proposing a conceptual framework for promoting knowledge management in PMOs.
The paper begins with a review of the literature on knowledge management and activities in PMOs to provide a clear understanding of knowledge management in PMOs. Then the paper suggests an overall architecture of the knowledge infrastructure for PMOs. Finally, a framework is proposed for building an effective knowledge management system for PMOs based on the perspective of knowledge components that could help PMOs create more business value by classifying information formally and enabling its transformation into valuable knowledge assets.

Publishing or acceptance of an advertisement is neither a guarantee nor endorsement of the advertiser's product or service. In some companies, the project managers report directly to the PMO, although this is not as common as you might imagine. But as noted by Kerzner , change facilitators occupy an important position in the structure by virtue of encouraging and facilitating change through the user team on the ground and process sponsors. On larger and more complex projects, a project controls team that focuses on both costs and schedule planning and controlling functions will assist the project management team in developing the plan and tracking progress against the plan.
