Of course that is no place for a lady and trouble soon confronts her but she is lucky to be rescued by none other than Ryker, Duke of Pembroke. Of course he was disguised as a commoner due to trying to find someone and comes upon Trisha. From here on out after their initial meeting, Ryker could not get his thoughts off her and what follows is a story with touches of intrigue, a little danger and of course romance. Even though a shorter story it is an enjoyable read that you will be glad you picked up. Not given love by his father and left by the woman he did love, Matthew, the Duke of Pennington holds tightly to his emotions.
His main desire is to find his sister who had been missing for two years. Lady Eleanor McIntyre was a kindred soul, having been left destitute by her unloving father and was trying to earn money working in a tavern. By a touch of fate, Matthew saves her as she is assaulted and carries her home.
So what could possibly happen now? Ella is able to help Matthew in the search for his sister but she does not realize he is a Duke. He agrees to help her find a position once she aids with his search. But as Ella shows her true nature as a kind and gentle lady, his emotions come into play and he struggles to trust her enough to let her into his heart.
Will the two be able to find a happy ending together? Will he find his sister alive and what will happen after that?

This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I previously read these books individually. Jan 23, Kari Maass rated it really liked it. Entertaining I really liked the Wicked Lords of London and how fast they fell when they met that special heroine. It proves the adage that former Rakes make the best husbands! Jan 30, Mrs Caroline Trevor rated it it was amazing. Great I found this a really good book. All 3 stories are about finding the person meant for you.
Tabbie and Luke are my favourites but all 3 are strong couples with great stories. May 26, Janett rated it really liked it Shelves: read-list , adult-historical-romance. I already owned the other two books and have reviewed those separately but I got this on a Bookbub special so This novella brought the feels back to this series! It has two great main characters that you immediately like and are rooting for.
It has heartfelt emotions and no shortage of inner conflict which is the best kind! Lady Eleanor "Ella" McIntyre has been left destitute by he 4. Lady Eleanor "Ella" McIntyre has been left destitute by her now deceased father who'd gambled away most of their family fortune.
Ella having no dowry, no recommendations or sponsor has to find a means to support herself. Unfortunately, Matthew's heroic efforts end up costing Ella her job. Matthew, feeling responsible offers to help Ella find a permanent position if she helps him find his sister who suddenly disappeared leaving the country on a merchant ship.
Ella agrees to use her linguistic skills to communicate with the foreign sailors who dock at port in order to help Matthew track down his sister's whereabouts. I absolutely enjoyed this story.
Community posts 4, The highlight of the story is the witty repartee between the two. Someone exactly like Constance…. Aug 07, Jazzysmum rated it really liked it. It was delightful and I hope they make a cameo in some later books because I need Margaret and Rhys in my life, along with Frances administered by some sensible woman. I never had to forgive the hero or the heroine for being an idiot.
Both Ella and Matthew carried deep emotional scars caused by people whom they trusted and loved. Hence, because of their past experiences they find it hard to believe they can be loved. Matthew guards his feelings with a thick brick wall. As his feelings for Ella grow how will he come clean and reveal his secret? Will it cost him the woman he's falling in love with?
Ella was such an endearing person. She was kind, considerate, sweet and giving. She wanted nothing more than to find fulfillment through a position where she could care for orphaned children having given up the possibility of having a family of her own. I loved her open heart. Although Ella never knew what it felt like to be loved by her father she didn't close herself off from showing tenderness, generosity and a caring spirit. She was ready and willing to love even is she thought of herself as unlovable.
These two together where dynamic and really made this novella a beautiful story of overcoming the personal baggage we carry. Included in their story we get a nice mix of characters from the previous books which added to the delight of this story. So fun to read! The only thing I'll complain about in this novella is that there was no mention of the Earl of Coventry which makes me wonder if his character is no longer important in this series? Anyway, I loved this so, if you're into historical romances this may be worth a peek! Dec 18, Janet rated it it was amazing. Lady Tabitha, daughter of the Duke of Waverly, will not be betrothed to a rake no matter what her father thinks of his social connections.
The pair agree that they need a plan to end the engagement but even as they form the plan they both are having second thoughts. My only quibble was that Luke as the heir to the Marquisette would not have had a seat in Parliament unless he was a elected MP. This was a lovely read, which I read in a sitting. It is like a miracle but even more shocking is that he needs her help to find his lost sister Camille.
Matthew, the Duke of Pembroke, has an excellent reason for hiding his title from the lovely Ella. The only woman he had ever loved Sarah, cared far more about his position than she ever did the man. Matthew introduces himself as Matthew Rangley.
